An Aethelian (ETH-el-ee-an) is a child of the cosmos with the burning potential for brilliance, boundless compassion, and stunning creation. So who is an Aethelian? You are, just like every other member of the Human Family!

Group Structure

Weekly Meetings

Every week, each “Local Group” within our organization meets for about two hours to discuss a pre-planned topic of interest. As the group reads from an educational “Discussion Primer,” each guest and member is encouraged to enrich the conversation with their unique perspective.

Mid-Week Activities

In addition to its regular weekly meetings, each Local Group also hosts a special evening activity during the week. These are game nights, creative workshops, and even forms of community service.

Democracy First

As “Equality” and “Democracy” are among our organization’s core values, we strive to run our organization as democratically as possible. The Members of each Local Group each have one vote that they may use to:

Elect a Local Group Coordinator (Each Year)
Set the group’s official meeting dates and times
Select topics of discussion for upcoming meetings
Choose and schedule upcoming group activities
Approve payouts from the group’s Mutual Aid Fund

The Local Group Coordinator

Each Local Group of our organization is logistically run by a “Coordinator” who carries out the democratically-made decisions of the group. The Coordinator is compensated for their service with half of the group’s Membership Donations. (The other half is added to the group’s Mutual Aid Fund.) The Coordinator implements the group’s plans, organizes the group’s meetings, and prepares for all group activities. They also serve as each meeting’s facilitator, much like a chairperson. Above all else, the Coordinator is expected to be a shining example of the organization’s values and philosophy and guide others on how they can also better embody these values as well.
